A record 152 recipients of the 7th Annual Gluten Free Awards were announced in the 2017 Gluten Free Buyers Guide this November. The winners for best gluten free new product, chosen by 3,527 people on a gluten free diet, comprise the best in gluten free for the year 2017.  The voters produced 96,128 individual responses breaking last year’s totals and created the highest engaged GFA event to date.

This year they had a tough job selecting the best gluten free new product with a total of six nominated for the Gluten Free Award.

The 7th Annual Gluten Free Awards for Best Gluten Free New Product goes to:

1st Place:  Three Bakers Honey Graham Snackers

2nd Place:  Nima Sensor – Portable Gluten Free Tester

3rd Place:  Saffron Road Vegetable Pad Thai

Other nominees:

Inspired by Happiness Dreamin’ of Strawberries White Chocolate Shortcake

American Gluten Free Subscription Box

SweetLeaf Stevia Sweetener – Strawberry Kiwi Water Drops

The GFA’s, the oldest award in the gluten free industry, are considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes. The GFA’s recognize excellence and commendable work by writers, manufactures, business owners, bakers, and volunteers. The 3,527 people who casted GFA votes are not from a distinguished panel of critics, industry practitioners or experts. Better than that, they are consumers who can speak from their own personal experiences. To participate in the GFA’s products must be submitted by August 31st. Our History and How it all Works

My wife and I created the Gluten-Free Awards seven years ago after we found families like us who couldn’t afford to experiment with expensive gluten free products. We needed to quickly find products our family would actually enjoy without going broke.  It was bad enough to have a Celiac Disease diagnosis but our grocery bill doubled and some of our family favorites disappeared instantly.

We didn’t ask for permission, we just started with a one-page website and a few hundred gluten-free folks who had struggled along with us.  Fast forward a few years and that one-page website has turned into a published buyers guide that is distributed to thousands of people including grocery store buyers and category managers.

Each year we give back to the community and focus on our mission by distributing as many free copies of the guide as possible during a short time period each January.  The number of free copies distributed is a fundamental method in which we measure our success.
I am amazed that we are now going into our seventh consecutive year and love the method in which we facilitate a collective and forceful voice.

Personally, we don’t always agree with the results.  Each year some of our personal favorites don’t make the nominations but we are passionate about the power of the collective results generated.  The majority votes rule and will also be the method in which we crown the victors.

This year we have over forty categories and some of the results are going to literally shock the gluten free community.
Grab the guide now.

How it all works in 5 simple steps.

Step 1:  Brands register their product(s) throughout the year.
Step 2:  In late Summer, thousands of people vote for their favorite bloggers.
Step 3:  We compile a list of the thirty most influential bloggers and give them an opportunity to make additional nominations.
Step 4:  In Fall we compile all of the nominations and open it up to public voting.
Step 5:  In January we compile the data and release the results in the Annual Gluten Free Buyers Guide.

Is Taylor Swift Gluten-Free?

Is Taylor Swift Gluten-Free?

Is Taylor Swift Gluten-Free?

Is Taylor Swift Gluten-Free?There is no doubt that Taylor Swift is one of the most popular stars in the world.  Taylor was recently added to the Forbes list of Most Powerful Women at #64.  She also has other rankings on Forbes lists at the age of 25:

#18 Celebrity 100 (2014)

#29 in Money

#23 in Press

#5 in Social

Just a few days ago Taylor was spotted in a local NYC pizzeria ordering two gluten-free pizzas for her and her boyfriend.  Rumor has it that the both of them are on a gluten-free diet.  Why?  Not sure.

This brings me to the question I always ask myself when celebrities go gluten-free.  Will this hurt or help those of us with Celiac Disease?  Nevertheless, we are going to send her a copy of the latest Gluten-Free Buyers Guide to help her connect with the best products. I am hopeful that Taylor could share thoughtful insights to the diet. What are your thoughts?  Leave your comments below.

Best Gluten-Free Expos for 2015

Best Gluten-Free Expos for 2015

Best Gluten Free ExpoWe absolutely love going to gluten-free expos. You can always find a new friend with similar conditions and connect with the brands and products you have grown to love. There is usually a handful of new companies and products getting instant customer feedback on their gluten-free product offerings. The general sessions provide insightful information about celiac disease, gluten-free cooking and a host of other related topics. Here are four tips for those looking to attend a gluten-free expo.

  1. Plan your day. Highlight the times of the general sessions you want to attend.
  2. Hit the expo hungry. You will have tons of products to taste test.
  3. Carry a bottle of water with you so you can actually carry on a conversation in between booths.
  4. Stay until the end. Brands typically don’t like shipping back product and will have deep discounts near the end of the show.
