A record 152 recipients of the 7th Annual Gluten Free Awards were announced in the 2017 Gluten Free Buyers Guide this November. The winners for best gluten free non profit, chosen by 3,527 people on a gluten free diet, comprise the best in gluten free for the year 2017.  The voters produced 96,128 individual responses breaking last year’s totals and created the highest engaged GFA event to date.

This year they had a tough job selecting the best gluten free non profit with a total of six nominated for the Gluten Free Award.

The 7th Annual Gluten Free Awards for Best Gluten Free Non Profit goes to:

1st Place:  Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF)

2nd Place:  Gluten Intolerance Group of North America (GIG)

3rd Place:  Beyond Celiac

Other nominees:

Celiac Support Association (CSA) (formerly Celiac Sprue Association)

National Celiac Disease Society (NCDS)

Cutting Costs for Celiacs

The GFA’s, the oldest award in the gluten free industry, are considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes. The GFA’s recognize excellence and commendable work by writers, manufactures, business owners, bakers, and volunteers. The 3,527 people who casted GFA votes are not from a distinguished panel of critics, industry practitioners or experts. Better than that, they are consumers who can speak from their own personal experiences. To participate in the GFA’s products must be submitted by August 31st. For more information regarding the Gluten Free Award submission process, visit http://www.glutenfreebuyersguide.com/submit-products.html

Our History and How it all Works

My wife and I created the Gluten-Free Awards seven years ago after we found families like us who couldn’t afford to experiment with expensive gluten free products. We needed to quickly find products our family would actually enjoy without going broke.  It was bad enough to have a Celiac Disease diagnosis but our grocery bill doubled and some of our family favorites disappeared instantly.

We didn’t ask for permission, we just started with a one-page website and a few hundred gluten-free folks who had struggled along with us.  Fast forward a few years and that one-page website has turned into a published buyers guide that is distributed to thousands of people including grocery store buyers and category managers.

Each year we give back to the community and focus on our mission by distributing as many free copies of the guide as possible during a short time period each January.  The number of free copies distributed is a fundamental method in which we measure our success.
I am amazed that we are now going into our seventh consecutive year and love the method in which we facilitate a collective and forceful voice.

Personally, we don’t always agree with the results.  Each year some of our personal favorites don’t make the nominations but we are passionate about the power of the collective results generated.  The majority votes rule and will also be the method in which we crown the victors.

This year we have over forty categories and some of the results are going to literally shock the gluten free community.
Grab the guide now.

How it all works in 5 simple steps.

Step 1:  Brands register their product(s) throughout the year.
Step 2:  In late Summer, thousands of people vote for their favorite bloggers.
Step 3:  We compile a list of the thirty most influential bloggers and give them an opportunity to make additional nominations.
Step 4:  In Fall we compile all of the nominations and open it up to public voting.
Step 5:  In January we compile the data and release the results in the Annual Gluten Free Buyers Guide.

Best Gluten-Free Donuts of 2015

I don’t eat gluten-free donuts very often but there are certain occasions and events when I would prefer a donut to any other breakfast option. In my opinion, you can’t host a garage sale or drive to the beach super early without having a few donuts. After the Celiac Disease diagnosis, it took me a few years to find a gluten-free donut that could be my garage sale companion. This year we had some awesome donut brands register for public voting. After thousands of you voted, we have your favorite gluten-free donuts highlighted here and in the 2015 Gluten-Free Buyers Guide.

The Best Gluten-Free Crackers of 2015

Best Gluten-Free CrackersIf you are like me crackers were something people would offer you when you felt sick not realizing that it would only make things worse. Since the celiac diagnosis and converting to a gluten-free lifestyle, crackers are once again part of the tummy ache cure. When our family initially converted to a 100% gluten-free kitchen we struggled to find a cracker we liked. Many had over inflated prices with little to no substance. Fast forward five years with the GFA Awards program and we can consistently purchase the best gluten-free crackers week after week. The GFA Awards program has also exposed new crackers that most would not have seen because of limited distribution and limited marketing budgets. We are proud to give these brands the platform to highlight the best gluten-free crackers.

Best Gluten-Free Cookies of 2015

I absolutely love cookies. When I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a year after my son, I had a few issues finding a gluten-free cookie that met my standards. Honestly, a few cookies we bought were way too overpriced and tasted gross. I will never forget the day we came home from the grocery store with a seven dollar box of cookies that I immediately threw away after one bite. This year we had thousands of people vote for their favorite so you can connect quickly with the best gluten-free cookie.
