Our History and How it all Works

My wife and I created the Gluten-Free Awards seven years ago after we found families like us who couldn’t afford to experiment with expensive gluten free products. We needed to quickly find products our family would actually enjoy without going broke.  It was bad enough to have a Celiac Disease diagnosis but our grocery bill doubled and some of our family favorites disappeared instantly.

We didn’t ask for permission, we just started with a one-page website and a few hundred gluten-free folks who had struggled along with us.  Fast forward a few years and that one-page website has turned into a published buyers guide that is distributed to thousands of people including grocery store buyers and category managers.

Each year we give back to the community and focus on our mission by distributing as many free copies of the guide as possible during a short time period each January.  The number of free copies distributed is a fundamental method in which we measure our success.
I am amazed that we are now going into our seventh consecutive year and love the method in which we facilitate a collective and forceful voice.

Personally, we don’t always agree with the results.  Each year some of our personal favorites don’t make the nominations but we are passionate about the power of the collective results generated.  The majority votes rule and will also be the method in which we crown the victors.

This year we have over forty categories and some of the results are going to literally shock the gluten free community.

How it all works in 5 simple steps.

Step 1:  Brands register their product(s) throughout the year.
Step 2:  In late Summer, thousands of people vote for their favorite bloggers.
Step 3:  We compile a list of the thirty most influential bloggers and give them an opportunity to make additional nominations.
Step 4:  In Fall we compile all of the nominations and open it up to public voting.
Step 5:  In January we compile the data and release the results in the Annual Gluten Free Buyers Guide.

Best Gluten-Free

When we found out that our son had Celiac Disease, we ordered a few books to help us get a better understanding of the diet and the disease. Now our gluten-free book purchases revolve around the culture and people who live the lifestyle. A few times a year there are also technical books published with either new research or opinions on gluten-free living and celiac disease. The gluten-free books provided in this list are organized by people’s favorites as part of the Annual Gluten-Free Awards. Each year we have thousands who vote so you can quickly get in touch with the best gluten-free products. Why? It’s not an easy transition if you have to experiment with terrible gluten-free products that cost way too much. If you have read any of these books, have a review, or just want to make a comment, please do so at the bottom of the page.

Cheers,

Josh (Co-Founder of The Annual Gluten-Free Awards and Buyers Guide)
