Pharmaceutical Treatment for Celiac Disease Trial Update

Celiac Disease Medication Treatment

I ran into a very interesting article written about the potential pharmaceutical treatments for Celiac Disease. Research has moved into an exciting phase. For the first time there may be a substitution to the gluten-free diet. Don’t think all of these medications in trial do the same thing.

In fact, most of these pharmaceuticals act completely different and address gluten in a variety of ways. As drugs move from concept to Phase 3 confirmatory trials, they need to be evaluated by endpoints that are tailored to the drug, disease, and target patient populations. Perhaps most importantly, these endpoints need to be acceptable to regulatory agencies.

Would you try any of these medications during the trial period? How about once approved by the Feds? Would you wait a while? Let us know in the comment section below.

5th Annual Gluten-Free Awards:

I have always been a huge fan of cold cereal. It brings back childhood memories of Saturday morning cartoons (when there was no such things as dedicated cartoon channels) and hanging around in PJ’s until the neighborhood kids came to play. Today gluten-free cold cereal has come a long way. The Chex brand of gluten-free cereals continue to show strong support from the celiac disease community. Post’s Fruity Pebbles is another great option if you are looking for that sugary morning kick. 2015 is going to be a huge year for gluten-free cereal since General Mills has announced a special process that ensures gluten-free cheerios. The gluten-free community is optimistic but also rightfully concerned. Hopefully during next year’s award for best gluten-free cold cereal we will have move brands to nominate. Please feel free to leave any comments of questions below. Enjoy your cereal and yes, it’s OK to drink the milk straight out of the bowl when you are done eating. ;0)

Best Gluten-Free Beer Brands

We wanted to eliminate any confusion this year and scaled down the best gluten-free beer brands to those who brew only with gluten-free products.  There is too much uncertainty around gluten removed beers and the safety for those with celiac disease.  If you have a favorite brand that is not represented here, please leave a comment.  Cheers!
